As you know, yesterday was another day of hypocrisy for Republicans who refuse to challenge the President's failed policy in Iraq. Even after President Bush was forced to admit in his interim report that the Iraqis are not meeting the key benchmarks that he set out for his surge strategy, Republicans continue to support the President's war without end in Iraq.
Yesterday’s House vote to responsibly redeploy our combat troops in Iraq was a test for Republicans who say the right things and then vote again and again to rubber stamp President Bush’s war without end. Americans deserve more from Republicans than sound bytes and speeches. Republicans will be held accountable by their constituents for blindly supporting President Bush's failed Iraq strategy that does not serve our national security.
In order to change course in Iraq, we must work together to expose these Republicans' hypocrisy. We need your help to make sure every constituent knows that these Republicans are continuing to ignore the will of the people.
More than six months into the troop surge, it is clear the President’s Iraq strategy is not working – more than 3,600 American troops have been killed and thousands more have been injured, U.S. taxpayers are spending $10 billion a month, and the Iraqi government has failed to meet the agreed upon political, economic or military benchmarks.
Join bloggers from across the country and expose these Republicans whose rhetoric fails to match their record:
Democracy for New Mexico:
As usual, Repub Rep. Heather Wilson is trying to have it both ways. She's continuing to blindly support the Bush Iraq agenda while pretending to want what's right for the American people, our troops and her constituents in NM-01.
West Virginia Blue:
Shelley Moore Capito on Iraq accountability:
"...I believe Congress must provide the oversight needed to hold the President and the Iraqi government accountable for achieving success in Iraq."
Tonight Capito voted no on yet another bill that would have done that.
She says one thing and votes another.
Blue Jersey:
Despite all their transparent "concerns," each of New Jersey's Republican Congressmen eventually voted to support that escalation. In doing so, they continue to support the failed status quo in Iraq.
Thank you for all of your hard work and I look forward to reading more of your posts.
